Well it seems our sunshine summer may be over but here’s hoping we’ll have a few BBQ days left this month – it still counts if it’s in a shed!
The Dish Dolly was off on holidays recently at a best friend’s wedding in beautiful Lisbon. What a wedding it was! Held at the stunning Páteo da Vinha about an hour bus ride from the city centre, the day went by far too quickly. The vineyard is set up in the mountains so the views and surroundings were just stunning and the sun shone on the beautiful couple for the entirety – a reflection of both their personalities. You can work at wedding fairs and be a supplier at weddings and chat with couples all day long about their plans but nothing beats seeing one of your best friends marry their true love.
Since I’ve been back to reality (briefly) I have been thinking about the Dish Dolly and where it can take me. July saw my little business turn 1 year old. I am still figuring it out and seeing where it takes me but to everyone who reads this blog, likes a post on social or simply says to me ” Well Done!” – THANK YOU! Without word of mouth and people supporting small local businesses The Dish Dolly simply wouldn’t exist. Especially in the current climate of overseas investments and major companies setting up huge HQs here on our tiny island it can be difficult to be heard over the roar of “progression”. Next time you are buying a product or planning an event, see if you can source a supplier closer to home or one that your friend’s sister is running out of her kitchen- that’s what we did for my sister’s recent wedding. Lets not forget what makes our very Irishness – our friendliness, our chatting and our neighbourly relationships.
Next week The Dish Dolly has it’s biggest (and furthest!) event to date – a marquee wedding for 120 in Ballywiheen, Dingle, Co. Kerry. The trio of myself and my folks are hiring a van and loading up all our stock next weekend and hitting the road to accommodate the lovely Emma for her Big Day. We’ll be providing tableware, glassware and doing a full table set up for dinner – be sure to follow us on social for updates!
That’s it for now folks, as always – Happy Planning! (and give me a shout if I can help!)
