And just like that folks it’s all over bar… nothing! The Happy Couple are back in Australia, it’s like the marquee was never there and the shed now looks like a shed – with a fine looking bar still up. Ireland turned up the weather for the weekend and the Australians couldn’t believe it – us Irish were even more in shock! The week before we were planning for lashing rain and panicking over where we would park the cars. As it turns out, our last minute dash was for suncream and making shady spots for outside and making sure the drinks were kept cool.
As a day it could not have gone any smoother. Given our weeks of planning and our attention to detail as a family we had covered all bases so had left little to chance. That, paired with the beyond-the-norm service from Turning Tables’ Fran Lawlor and team and the Event Waiter staff, meant that the day went without a hitch!
As a family affair, it was absolutely brilliant. The love, laughter and happiness that flooded across our home over the weekend was immense. The celebrant, John, from The Spiritualist Union of Ireland mentioned in his sermon that the barn was filled with people who The Happy Couple chose to be witness to their union, those who are so very important in their lives and who they love. I felt very privileged to be a part of this unique day and I hope all our friends & family felt the same.
Here are some photo highlights taken by our friends & family over the weekend, along with the pro shots from the excellent photographer Jason McCarthy
I will be sure to update you all with the list of suppliers we used and some tips to use for your own DIY Wedding from what we learned in the process. For now, I will continue to revel in the memories of an amazing weekend and hope that you take some inspiration & courage to decide on hosting your own DIY wedding and doing it YOUR OWN WAY.
Happy planning folks,
